Important Hindi corrections

A few formations need special attention:

#18 Present passive: Hindi normally uses V + जाना for an ongoing/general passive:

किताब पढ़ी जाती है — Kitāb paṛhī jātī hai — The book is read.

#26 Completed passive:

किताब पढ़ी गई — Kitāb paṛhī gaī — The book was read.

#28 Future passive:

किताब पढ़ी जाएगी — Kitāb paṛhī jāegī — The book will be read.

#30 Modal passive:

किताब पढ़ी जानी चाहिए — Kitāb paṛhī jānī cāhiye — The book should be read.

#40: Hindi normally expresses a verbal noun/nominalized action with का/की/के + infinitive, but किताब का पढ़ना can mean “the reading of the book” depending on context.

#44: Hindi relative clauses are more naturally placed before the noun:

जो किताब मैं पढ़ता हूँ, वह दिलचस्प है।

Jo kitāb main paṛhtā hū̃, vah dilchasp hai.

= The book that I read is interesting.

#47: For a real future condition, Hindi commonly uses the future in the अगर clause as well:

अगर किताब पढ़ी जाएगी, तो मैं परीक्षा पास करूँगा।

Agar kitāb paṛhī jāegī, to main parīkṣā pās karū̃gā.

= If the book is read, I will pass the exam.

Hindi adverbs are relatively flexible, but their position can affect emphasis.

Beginning

āj maĩ bāzār jāū̃gā.

= Today I will go to the market.

Middle

मैं आज बाज़ार जाऊँगा।

maĩ āj bāzār jāū̃gā.

= I will go to the market today.

End

मैं बाज़ार आज जाऊँगा।

maĩ bāzār āj jāū̃gā.

= I will go to the market today.

This is possible but gives extra emphasis to today.

So, as with the other languages you've been studying, “beginning / middle / end” generally means the position can be flexible, but Hindi has preferred positions depending on the particular adverb.
